In research efforts under natural resource management, soil maps of 12 districts in seven states were prepared for alternate land-use options and crop zoning, and the soil-erosion status map of Assam and Tripura was prepared for undertaking appropriate soil-conservation measures. Installation of mechanical and vegetative measures rehabilitated 48 percent of wasteland to cultivation.
