In research efforts under natural resource management, soil maps of 12 districts in seven states were prepared for alternate land-use options and crop zoning, and the soil-erosion status map of Assam and Tripura was prepared for undertaking appropriate soil-conservation measures. Installation of mechanical and vegetative measures rehabilitated 48 percent of wasteland to cultivation. Conservation measures were also developed for rehabilitation of degraded hillocks in the Eastern Ghats. Read more
