The value of output from poultry sector is nearly 15000 crore and it provides direct or indirect employment to over 2 million people. About 25 percent of total egg production in the country comes from desi poultry, which is unorganized rural backyard system. A target for achieving production of over 52 billion eggs by 2011-12, at a growth rate of 4.3 percent has been visualized by the Government of India.

Poultry sector, besides employment generation and subsidiary income increase, provides nutritional secutiry especially to the rural poor. Further, landless labourers derive more than 50 percent of their income from livestock especially poultry.

Central Poultry Development Organisations have been playing a pivotal role in the implementation of the policies of the Government with respect to poultry as a tool for alleviating nutritional hunger and palliating the impecuniosities of the resource-poor farmers especially the women. Read more

Gas Pipeline Deal Soon With Iran

Iran, Pakistan and India would soon give final shape to the proposed three-nation gas pipeline, President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said on Tuesday night.

Talking to the press after talks with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, he said “We are now looking forward”.

55 IT Special Economic Planned for Gurgaon

A total of 55 SEZs of all categories will come up in Gurgaon in times to come. 35 SEZs have already been accorded formal approval, while in-principal approval has been granted to 18 SEZ and the rest two are awaiting approval.

About fifty percent of SEZs of all categories coming up in Gurgaon would be in the IT sector.

This in effect would generate millions of jobs

The state government has also decided to set up community colleges and professional training institutes to train the local youths on lifestyle and professional skills to take advantage of the upsurge in job opportunity. Read more

Inflation Will Controlled Very Soon-Says Prime Minister

The Prime Minister has been under increasing pressure from allies of the ruling UPA after the rate of inflation touched a three year high of 7 percent, driven by a sustained surge in food and commodity prices.

Tata and Mahindra To Invest Rs. 10,000 Crore in Pune

In two separate commitments, Mahindra and Mahindra and Tata Motors have announced a total investment of Rs. 10,000 crore in Chakan, a suburb of Pune.

Tata Motors will be investing Rs. 6,000 crore over a five-year period to upgrade its existing plant and to set up a vehicle testing facility in Chakan. Mahindra and Mahindra will invest Rs. 4,000 crore in a spanking new plant to manufacture medium and heavy commercial vehicles. Read more

User Development Fee For Domestic Air Travelers Not To Be Charged

Civil aviation Minister Praful Patel has asked the private developers of the international airports at Bengalore and Hyderabad not to levy the proposed User Development Fees on domestic air travelers.

The domestic passengers flying out of any of these two new airports would not have to pay a higher charge for tickets but passengers flying overseas from these two airports would need to pay about Rs. 1,000-1,100 per ticket over and above the price of the ticket. Read more

The work of the Delhi Metro is in full swing and it aims to cover the entire city by the end of 2012. In addition to the three existing metro lines (red, yellow and blue lines), the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) is extending the blue line to connect places in the trans-Yamuna area.

After crossing the river, the line will divide into two. One branch will go straight towards Preet Vihar and the other will turn towards Mayur Vihar. Read more

Air Deccan Spreads International Wings

Low cost carrier Deccan Aviation, now a unit of Vijay Mallya’s UB Group, has sought government’s permission to start operations on overseas routes including the United States, Britain, United Arab Emirates, Oman, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, Nepal and Saudi Arabia from August this year.

Air Deccan will operates on the low-cost model on the short haul overseas routes while its major stakeholder, the UB Group, which controls Kingfisher Air, will operate as a full service carrier on the long haul routes to the United States and England as and when it gets necessary government approval.
