Orrisa Government To Provide Free Power To Below Poverty Line Families

BPL ElectricityThe government of state of Orissa has decided to provide free electricity to all the families living under poverty line. 32 lakh such families would get a no cost electricity by next 15 months.

State Energy Minister S N Patro said the government would provide requisite materials including a 40 wt bulb to each BPL family and an estimated Rs 2200 would be spent on each family.

The funds will be arranged from Rajiv Gandhi Gramin Vidyuitkaran Yojana and Biju Gram Jyoti Scheme.

To overcome low voltage problems in many parts of the state, the distribution companies were asked to replace 3000 old and ineffective transformers within next six months.

To each family, the state goverment would provide a 40 watt bulb and other requisite naterial.

An estimated Rs 2200 would be spent on each family.
