MCD Bans Sale of Cut Fruit, Sugarcane Juice and Water To Protect People From Water-Borne Diseases

Health department of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has banned the sale of cut fruit, sugarcane juice and water by unlicensed people.

Every year, the health department bans crushers from April 15 to September 15 to protect people from water-borne diseases like dysentery, diarrhea, cholera, typhoid and jaundice.

Anyone seen selling these items will be penalized under the Delhi Municipal Corporation (DMC) Act and their trollies will also be seized.

All the Deputy Health Officers (DHOs) have been instructed to enforce the regulations strictly. The health department will monitor the working on a weekly basis.

As per data received from the 12 MCD zones between April 17 and April 25 25, there have been a large number of raids.

In the various zones, raids were conducted crushers were taken in custody.

The people whose livelihood will be affected during these six months are not happy.

“We wait for summer to do some business but this direction has put us in trouble,” says Ram Lal, who owns a sugarcane crushers in Sangam Vihar.
