In a bid to give students more scope to enter corporate law, Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University has redesigned its five-years BA LLB course. Students applying for the new session will now have the opportunity to either choose the traditional BA LLB or the new entrant BBA LLB.

BBA LLB is designed for those students who want to get into corporate law. This will ensure that they have business grounding before doing MA LLB, said KK. Aggarwal, Vice Chancellor of GGSIPU. He added that due to the course, placement in banks and multinationals would not be a problem.

The university will also begin three new courses this academic year. The MSc course in Biodiversity will have 15 to 20 seats and will be open to students who have done their Bachelor in Life Sciences.

The MTech in Nanotechnology will have 15 seats. The course is funded by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India.

The university has already ordered Rs. 1.5 crore worth of equipment for the research lab.

Training of teachers is another area the university is focusing on this year, with a new Master of Education course.

Moreover, with the retail sector picking up, the university will also introduce short-term certificate courses in retail marketing. The courses will run for a maximum of sic months and will be open to professionals only.

Separate brochures will be printed for these courses and their exam dates will be announced accordingly.
