There is good news for those who travel by bus between Noida and Delhi. The UP States Road transport corporation will soon start buses from Noida to major points in Delhi. The decision was taken at a top level meet of the officials of the two states, UP and Delhi, last week. This also brings to an end the 15 year long dispute between UP and Delhi on plying buses into each other’s territory.

. As per the decision, the UPSRTC buses will ply a total of 40,000 km a day in Delhi with extra facility of plying its city buses to nine points including the airport, CGO complex, Central Secretariat and Bhajanpura, within the city.

The Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) will ply 1.45 lakh km daily in UP and UPSRTC will ply 45,000 km in Delhi. The final agreement will be signed soon.

The free movement of autos and taxis between NCR and Delhi with easy permit and tax norms was also deliberated upon at the meeting. They dwelled on having a uniform tax rate for all the transport vehicles plying in Delhi and NCR, with the facility of paying the tax in the state to which the vehicle belongs.

Residents, who have for long been demanding a common transport system between Delhi and NCR, have heaved a sigh of relief.

The commuters suffer a lot due to lack of an efficient transport system between the two cities.

The continuous fight between bus operators and autorickshaw drivers of the two cities would end only when we have a common transport system
