The central electricity authority (CEA), a statutory organization constituted under section 3(1) of electricity supply act, 1948 which has been superseded by section 70(1) of electricity act, 2003, plays an important role in formulating policies and programmes for power development in the country and in planning and coordinating various development activities in Power Sector.
The central electricity authority advises the central government on the matters relating to the national electricity policy, formulate short-term and perspective plans for development of the electricity system and coordinate the activities of the planning agencies for the optimal utilization of resources to sub serve the interests of the national economy and to provide reliable and affordable electricity for all consumers. Modernisation of Mail In India

As part of the modernization programme, computerization of the registration sorting work in major mail offices has been undertaken.
A beginning in this regard was made during the financial year 1995-96 by computerizing registration sorting work at Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad and Chennai. Up to 31st March 2004, registration sorting work in 69 mail offices were computerized. Read more

More Mangoes Would Rain This Year

There is some good news for mango lovers around the country as production of the king of fruits is likely to go up this year. Favorable weather conditions in Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra and Orissa have brightened the prospects.
Last year, India produced approximately 1.25 crore tonne of mangoes. The production across India will be up by approximately 15 lakh tonne this year.
Production in UP will be up by 25 percent to 30 percent from last year’s 28 lakh tonne, while production in both Maharashtra and Orissa will also be more compared to last year. Read more
